On or about May 5, 2016, the National Federation of Federal Employees, Local 919, filed a comprehensive FLSA & Overtime Grievance against the United States Department of the Navy, Naval Hospital and Naval Dental Center, Camp Pendleton, CA. The Union’s Grievance covered those who were in the bargaining unit at any time from May 5, 2014 through March 13, 2024. The Law Offices of Snider & Associates, LLC, was retained to represent the interests of the Union in this matter.
A $5 million settlement was obtained, with the majority of these settlement proceeds attributable to overtime backpay owed to current and former covered employees. Class Action Implementation Group (CAIG) was retained to implement the settlement and payment distribution process. We are now working to identify those current and past employees who may be entitled to a payment from the settlement funds. Once that process is complete, we will then work on all necessary calculations to determine entitlement amounts.
Via the Agency, CAIG has already sent a mailing to the last known address of all employees potentially eligible for a settlement payment. This mailing included the information from CAIG on how to participate. The Agency also provided CAIG with the work email addresses of those who were current NFFE 919 bargaining unit employees when the matter resolved and CAIG has also emailed those individuals with the information on how to participate. Even if you did not receive an email or a mailing, if you were in the NFFE 919 bargaining unit at any time from May 5, 2014 to March 13, 2014, you should register on CAIG’s website as noted below to make sure you do not miss out if it is determined that you are eligible.
It is expected that most employees who were ever in the NFFE 919 bargaining unit at any point during the covered timeframe will receive a payment from the settlement, but not all will. Payment amounts will not be
determined until well after the conclusion of the eligibility period and will be disclosed by CAIG once the final determinations are made. Prior to making any payments, CAIG is legally required to collect and, at multiple stages,
confirm certain information – including your home address and social security number. Failure to timely provide and confirm what is needed will result in the forfeiture of any settlement proceeds that would have otherwise been paid.
To be eligible for payment, you MUST complete at least one of these options before the February 28th, 2025 deadline:
1. Provide a completed Written Consent Form to CAIG which will be forwarded to the Agency for the Agency to release your last known address and social security number to CAIG. This form was sent out in the mailing. Please contact CAIG if you have not received or need a new one.
2. Provide a completed Contact Information Form to directly to CAIG. This form was sent out in the mailing. Please contact CAIG if you have not received or need a new one.
3. Complete registration at CAIG’s secure online portal at https://register.nffe919.org . This is the easiest and quickest option.
Neither the Union nor the law firm is collecting information from employees relevant to this matter. Current and past employees MUST participate in and complete the process with CAIG to receive any payment from the settlement.
If you have any concerns as to the information to be provided, you may contact CAIG directly.
If you have any concerns as to the legitimacy of this communication, you may contact your Union and they will confirm the information contained here, but please note the Union will not be providing additional information beyond what is contained here and any updates posted online at NFFE919.ORG .
IF YOU DO NOT TIMELY COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY PAYMENT FROM THE SETTLEMENT
