This settlement was won on your behalf by the NFFE legal team and co-counsel. NFFE’s legal efforts are 100% funded by dues-paying members of the union.

Due to recent Executive Orders prohibiting the Department of the Navy from deducting union dues directly from employee paychecks, NFFE has implemented its own electronic dues payment system, known as NFFE E-Dues.

Despite agency management not recognizing your collective bargaining agreement due to the Executive Order (EO), you are still a NFFE member, and NFFE is still representing you every day.

The EO does not negate the union, nor any local or council from continuing to perform meetings, organizing, or representing employees. Employees still have individual representational rights and can seek assistance from an attorney or representative from the union.

Defending Your Rights in Court

NFFE filed a lawsuit last year challenging the Executive Order that removes federal workers’ collective bargaining rights. This case remains active and will proceed to trial soon in the Northern District of California. Ultimately, these issues are likely to be reviewed by the Supreme Court.

Our members support this lawsuit through both making dues payments and by providing evidence and testimony needed to support our claims.

Separately, NFFE is actively pursuing numerous arbitrations, grievances, unfair labor practices, and matters before the FLRA, NLRB, EEOC and MSPB. We are also opposing the Administration’s proposed rules and regulations that would limit federal employee rights by engaging in the administrative process.

Your membership allows us to continue providing you with professional support when you need it most.

Fighting for Federal Workers on Capitol Hill

NFFE is also collaborating with Congress to restore collective bargaining rights for over one million federal employees, including Defense Department workers.

We have taken a leading role in advancing the Protect America’s Workforce Act, legislation that would repeal the EO. The House of Representatives passed this bill with a strong bipartisan majority, and we are now continuing our work in the Senate to advance this legislation.

Be sure to use our Action Alert to contact your Senators and Representatives in Congress to tell them to support DoD workers’ rights.

Meanwhile, NFFE persists in advocating for federal employees by:

  • Fighting for fair pay increases
  • Opposing cuts to retirement and benefits
  • Protecting the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program
  • Fighting against harmful workforce proposals like Schedule P/C and RIFs

Your Union Never Stops Fighting for You

NFFE is confident that federal employees’ collective bargaining rights and union contracts will eventually be restored—whether through the courts, Congress, or both. Despite claims from some agency officials, your union has not vanished. NFFE continues to represent you, defend your rights, and advocate for the federal workforce every day.

We value your membership and your support is what allows us to fight back against this administration’s attacks on the federal workforce. NFFE is powered by our members, and we can only continue this fight because dedicated workers like you stay engaged, united, and committed to defending your rights. Your membership is critical to our success.
